About Shirley

I am Shirley Dawson, a blogger living in the beautiful Ozark hill country of Northwest Arkansas. I am a nature lover and a lover also of our great Creator God. For several years, I’ve explored various natural treatments and medicines, especially using herbs. I’ve developed quite a passion for learning more about our natural world. At this point, I am a very interested amateur.

My personal belief is that our Creator has provided a multitude of plants and herbs on this planet to help us live the best physical lives we can. I utilize herbs myself to enhance my body and be more comfortable in this physical realm I live in. I enjoy researching and sharing my findings and thoughts with others. That is the purpose of this blogsite. I am not a medical professional and have no intention of diagnosing or treating any physical ailment, only sharing information I find during my research that may be of benefit.

So What is Herbalism ?

It is the art and science of using herbs for health. You can learn much about using herbs for health, but the U.S. doesn’t allow you to practice medicine like a doctor. Our government requires a medical license to do this in the U.S.

You can complete certain online studies and even obtain a certificaition of completion but you are not a medical doctor.

Since it’s illegal for herbalists to treat, cure, or diagnose patients, there’s an FDA-compliant vocabulary herbalists must adhere to if they choose to market an herbal product. Through compliant copy, an herbalist is responsible for their own legal protection.   (quote from https://botanicalinstitute.org/how-to-become-an-herbalist/)
